Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities
Since summer 2020, we have built our own small (6-7 litre), lightweight, easy-to-assemble DIY Planter Box Kits for small space gardening. This initiative makes gardening and growing food, herbs, and pollinator attractants accessible to those without access to traditional outdoor garden space. We have taken special attention to make boxes available to seniors, immunocompromised, low-income, and other vulnerable members of the community at no cost. Each kit includes planter box parts, soil, seeds, and assembly instructions. Over the years, kits have also been donated to raffles, schools and other community events, and have been available at planter box giveaways. We anticipate building more boxes in the next 12 months.
Our DIY Planter Box Giveaway program is one VV's key elements involved on our Community Food Resilience project.
Village engages individuals, neighbourhoods & organizations to take actions that build sustainable communities & have fun doing it. Join us!
